32. THE EQUAL REMUNERATION ACT, 1976 |
This Act is enacted to prohibit discrimination of women in the
matter of remuneration (Pay-Wages) with men. It provides equal pay
to men and women for same work or work of similar nature. It also
prohibit discrimination while recruiting men and women workers
(except where the employment of women in such work is prohibited or
restricted by any law). Government is empowered to appoint authorities for hearing and deciding claims and complaints. The appointment of Inspectors for implementation of this Act is also made. Breach of provisions of this Act are offence and punishable. |
